With the "important people" being "comfortable in Warwick", if they get the 'inevitably' enough people to leave, they can keep selling off K Halls, pay for the comfy rest of their lives, and the "next gen" can figure out their own scheme to keep things going! Right?!

Are they either leaving or going full on 'cult mode'? No quarter.
by punkofnice init might just be me imagining things.. i hear things from my jw spies.. from all that's being said, it seems to me that the rank and file(tm), are either waking up to the scam and fading/leaving.
they are going full on 'cult mode' and acting like 'spiritual police'.. is it just me and my imagination?
have others noticed this?.

OMG, My 18 Nephews & Nieces Are Such Creative Double Life JWs
by TMS into briefly state this: we were hardcore jws, my siblings, my wife and her two sisters.
we have 18 nieces and nephews among us from late 20's to 55. only one is a card-carrying, practicing jw and he's had his problems.. what's hilarious, is that most of the 18 in the next generation would still identify themselves as jws to the rest of the family, but all are leading double lives extraordinaire, doing exactly what they want to do.
most would be honest with me and have been.

Guardian Article: "How the police ended up running a paedophile site." Can only wonder if any JWs were caught

"McCoole was jailed to face court, but online, his presence barely faltered. Two officers had immediately assumed control of his account. This was in a different league from the earlier takeover of a Queensland account."
I wonder if a list of these "Users" who " had to upload material at least every 30 days or risk exile. Each of its 45,000 accounts were ranked according to the quality of their output, with a “producer’s area” walled off to all but the most feted." are available?

What is the real purpose of attending your JC?
by StarTrekAngel ini was compelled to ask this question because i have seen several of the youtube videos on jcs.
on striking similarity among all these videos is that most of the people bringing the arguments to the elders are pretty much atheists or have turned to another religion altogether.. i can easily see that the common concern in most of the people involved, is their ability to keep in touch with family and friends, which by all means would be my concern as well, when and if i ever end up in one.. however, i can't help but to notice something.
it is difficult enough to think of the day that the wt would accept a loose canon in their ranks, let alone someone who openly claims to no longer believe in god.

Sad to say, the question of whether the GB are God's spirit appointed people in charge of his org is NUMERO UNO on the question list.
Remember how we were told to shout "Jehovah" when we thought a demon might be around?
Elders immediately switch to asking the GB question when THEY are on the hot plate, and losing.

Hello Everyone
by Mozzie inhoping this is the right section..... my story so far,,,.
hello everyone, i have been reading a lot on what most jws would say apostate websites, but i have been asking myself, how much of this s true and considering a lot of these are run by ex jw elders, bethalites and one who was with the gb at one stage, overseers and the like.
i was an unbaptized publisher many years ago but never got to the point of baptism as i fell into sin, that pretty much ended my attending meetings again.

Hi Mozzie, welcome!
I guess I will put my 2 cents in also... I was raised in this religion, never thought it was a cult, because there weren't "four walls keeping me in" and then, after 50+ years I saw them for who they were.
Our family has seen the things WT does in court cases, the way they change the words to keep the upper hand, and how numbers have always been a part of the game.... numerologists is what they have been... changing the numbers to keep you playing their game, right?
607 BCE was it for us. When the 2011 WT articles were written about 607, and we looked up all references (finally they actually had page numbers, titles, authors, etc) and read that tiny little caveat footnote (November 1, 2011 page 24 in tiny print) that said,
"Business tablets exist for all the years traditionally attributed to the Neo-Babylonian kings. When the years that these kings ruled are totaled, and a calculation is made back from the last Neo-Babylonian king, Naabonidus, the date reached for the destruction of Jerusalem is 587 BCE"
that was it for us!
These business tablets always start with "In the eight month of King So and so, when the moon is here, venus is there..."
These two articles, October 1, 2011 and November 1, 2011 spend a lot of time asking questions, raising doubts, conjecturing, but when it all boils down to it, there IS evidence out of their own mouths that 607 is not the date. If 607is wrong, 1914 is wrong, and in turn 1919 "when the slave was appointed" is wrong.
The WT is very good at magician like tactics: wave your hands, twirl the scarves, play the music (make charts, graphs, show pictures, underline words)..... "maybe they won't see what we are doing."
Why do you think they make these WT articles so long and mind numbing? Why does your head hurt if you try to understand?
They are word magicians, "now you see it, now you don't!"
Do not fall for their tactics, see behind the mirror, be free!

Judge sanctions WTS - $4k per day penalty for not producing sex abuse documents
by Simon injudge sanctions jehovah's witnesses.
imposes $4000-a-day penalty for not producing documents in sex-abuse case.
by dorian hargrove, june 24, 2016. a san diego superior court judge has ordered the church of jehovah's witnesses, also known as the watchtower bible and tract society of pennsylvania, to pay $4000 a day for every day that it fails to produce documents requested in a civil lawsuit brought by former parishioner, osbaldo padron, who claims a church elder sexually abused him when he was seven years old.. in a june 23 ruling, expected to be made final today, judge richard strauss admonished the church for willfully ignoring a court order to produce all documents associated with a 1997 body of elders letter that church leaders sent to parishes around the world in a quest to learn about sexual abuse of children by church leaders.. over the course of the past year, the watchtower society and its lawyers have fought hard to keep the letter confidential, claiming that turning over the documents would infringe on the privacy of those mentioned in the letter that were not associated with the case.. in march 2015, the church turned over a heavily redacted version of the letter.

I was"out in service", auxiliary pioneering, boots on, surrounded by little yippy growling dogs, I kept turning in circles while my husband spoke... "it's ok dear, just stand still..."
Chomp! Right thru my boot!
Best thing about that day? I got to go home!

What Religious Trajectory Are The JWs Following?
by millie210 ini was reading another thread and the comments got me thinking.... https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/5656910430732288/pictures-tell-thousand-words.
comments such as oldskools: more like digital colonialism channeled through one of the weaker and less important institutions western society has to offer.. .
some have compared the orgs future path to the world wide church of gods.

Yes Millie, I agree... When I was in school, the Catholic Church ruled! No meat on Fridays.... Ex-communicated meant "lose your families forever." The Pope.... kiss his pinky ring? hmm? Blessed by the Pope/ Priest/ elders?
I totally see the connection/ parallel between the old Catholic Church and the GB of today ;-)

Awesome James! That is great she became a nurse! I worked at a hospital, and got to know the nurses there, they work like a team, accept each other like family, maybe she is seeing that not EVERY one out there is evil. Maybe, just maybe they are helping her see the value of family?
If she had a great time with you, and you didn't talk "religion"... then she goes to the convention, she just might resent the shunning talk.
After having a "Bethelite" husband who was a 'jerk', she may just be realizing that there are better people out there (like you, the father) than she can find in the org.... She may even be realizing that you just may have had a good reason for leaving, and admiring your for taking a stand! Right?
